Although Panama made significant gains in women's representation in 2014, getting more women into parliament from different backgrounds is a way to increase numbers.
Worldwide, women's average share of parliamentary membership nearly doubled between 1995 and 2015, from 11.3 per cent in 1995 to 22.1 per cent im 2015 their share gained ground in almost 90 per cent to the 174 countries for which 1995 an 2015 date are available.
